Amar Khushi Camp

FPC organized our annual AMARKhushi camp over the summer holidays. 168 girls and boys participated in the 7-day long camp. Various activities were conducted to empower the girls and endow them with skills to help them succeed, such as:

Spoken English classes, taught the girls to introduce themselves

and their family members, explain their social status in their village and

talk about their vision and dreams.

Computer Literacy classes, which educated girls about the basics of

computers like creating Word, Excel and PowerPoint presentations and

using Paint. The goal of these classes was to increase girls’ employability

skills and job prospects, an important step in helping them gain financial

independence.

Life Skills Awareness sessions through which the girls were encouraged to

build their communication and decision-making skills and improve their

self-confidence.

Self-defense techniques.

Health and Hygiene sessions, which included open sessions on menstrual

health and hygiene, the difference between gender and sex, and the

reproductive system.

Fundamental and Human Rights sessions, which taught them about the

rights of women, major legislations protecting those rights (such as the

Child Marriage Act of 2006), and taught them how to report cases of

domestic violence, child marriage and gender-based violence.
