Amar Khushi Camp
FPC organized our annual AMARKhushi camp over the summer holidays. 168 girls and boys participated in the 7-day long camp. Various activities were conducted to empower the girls and endow them with skills to help them succeed, such as: Spoken English classes, taught the girls to introduce themselvesand their family members, explain their social status in their village andtalk about their vision and dreams. Computer Literacy classes, which educated girls about the basics ofcomputers like creating Word, Excel and PowerPoint presentations andusing Paint. The goal of these classes was to increase girls’ employabilityskills and job prospects, an important step in helping them gain financialindependence. Life Skills Awareness sessions through which the girls were encouraged tobuild their communication and decision-making skills and improve theirself-confidence. Self-defense techniques. Health and Hygiene sessions, which included open sessions on menstrualhealth and hygiene, the difference between gender and sex, and thereproductive system. Fundamental and Human Rights sessions, which taught them about therights of women, major legislations protecting those rights (such as theChild Marriage Act of 2006), and taught them how to report cases ofdomestic violence, child marriage and gender-based violence.
